This Hot Work Die
Steel alloy is used for both ferrous and nonferrous
hot mill work roll applications. The unique
properties of this alloy combine high thermal
fatigue strength and resistance to cracking at
elevated temperatures. The microstructure consists
of a uniform dispersion of alloy carbides in a fine
grain tempered martensitic matrix that manifests
enhanced wear resistance. Grade 5CR80MO also offers
the ability to achieve hardness levels beyond the
standard 4CR80MO alloy for hot nonferrous
applications. This property will result in longer
mill campaigns and improved retention of finish.
